A New Zealander on holiday in Maui says the wildfires devastating the Hawaiian island are like nothing he's ever seen before.
The blazes that have claimed at least 36 lives, have prompted a state of emergency, while several brush fires have also caused evacuations on the Big Island - Hawai'i.
Efforts are underway to evacuate hundreds of tourists, many of whom have fled to emergency shelters.
