The residential retirement sector is regulated by a 20-year-old Act, and many say it is unfair to residents and their families.
The government is calling for submissions on proposals to ensure a fairer deal. Members of the Retirement Villages Association, which represents village operators, were surprised to find they agree with most of the proposals.
