Secondary teachers have secured a big win after a tough campaign for better pay.
The government has offered a 14.5 percent pay rise over two years.
Education Minister Jan Tinetti says beginning teachers will get nearly $10,000 a year more on top of a $7210 lump sum payment.
Chris Abercrombie, acting president of the Post Primary Teacher's Association, says he's pleased with the deal and it's now up to members to ratify it.
