The National Party has for the second time taken up a proposal to open a medical school Waikato University.
The University and Waikato District Health Board initially bid to establish the country's third medical school in 2016.
If elected, National would pour 380 million dollars into starting the school, which would start taking students from 2027.
The party previously backed the proposal ahead of the 2017 election, but Labour never took it up.
Waikato University's vice chancellor, Neil Quigley, spoke to Corin Dann.
