'Kiwi encounters' at Zoo Miami have been cancelled, after disturbing footage emerged of visitors handling the bird under bright lights.
In the video, Paora the kiwi bird was likened to a puppy and touched carelessly, sparking outrage from iwi leader - and the bird's namesake - Paora Haitana, and the Department of Conservation.
Zoo Miami communications director Ron Magill spoke to Guyon Espiner.
