Three days after he was suspended by the BBC, presenter and former footballer Gary Lineker will be allowed back on air.
In a statement the broadcaster's director-general Tim Davy apologised for the disruption caused when BBC presenters walked out in sympathy, refusing to present the weekend football coverage because Lineker was forced off air.
The public broadcaster says it will hold an independent review into it impartiality guidelines, but Lineker has remained unapologetic.
