New Zealand and Australian scientists have made a fairly startling discovery - an enzyme that turns air into electricity.
After studying bacteria in soil that can oxidise hydrogen, scientists discovered the enzyme that could offer a new clean source of energy, the only by-product of which is water.
Otago University's distinguished professor Greg Cook is part of the team studying this enzyme.
He spoke to Māni Dunlop.
