Polish president says missile likely an accident from Ukraine

From Morning Report, 7:10 am on 17 November 2022

The Polish President Andrzej Duda says the missile that hit Poland is likely an "accident" from Ukrainian air defences.

Two people were killed yesterday after a missile landed in eastern Poland near the Ukrainian border following a wave of Russian strikes across Ukraine.

NATO head Jens Stoltenberg has backed up the President Duda saying it is unlikely to have been a direct attack by Russia.

There have been fears that the strike on Poland was a deliberate hit by Russia and would escalate the war.
