The first witness is expected to be called today before a joint inquest into a 2018 murder and a sudden death in Christchurch.
Twenty-seven-year-old Nicole Tuxford was raped and killed by Paul Tainui four years ago, while he was on parole for a very similar murder.
A few days after learning of NicoleTuxford's death, Gary Schroder, the father of 21-year-old Kimberley Schroder, Tainui's first victim, died in a suspected suicide.
The three deaths, the decision to grant Tainui parole and his post-release management will all be picked apart during the hearing over the next two weeks.
