Farah Palmer on Black Ferns World Cup win

From Morning Report, 7:09 am on 14 November 2022

Aotearoa is still revelling in the The Black Ferns victory in the Rugby World Cup, beating England 34-31 in one of New Zealand's great sporting moments.

The celebrations started right away.

There were tears of joy for the Black Ferns players, and tears of despair for the Red Roses, who fought valiantly with only 14 players for most of the match after a red card.

A short time after that final whistle sounded, Ruby Tui got hold of the mic and led a 42,000-strong rendition of Tūtira Mai Ngā Iwi.

It was goosebumps-inducing stuff from the Black Ferns and this continued into yesterday when hundreds of fans turned up at Te Komititanga Square in Auckland to carry on the party.

Former Black Ferns captain and now New Zealand Rugby board member Farah Palmer says she once dreamed the team might be able to sell out stadiums.

That dream is now a reality.

Palmer spoke to Māni Dunlop.
