Tax excessive gains by mega banks - Greens

The Green Party wants the government to reign in mega bank profits by taxing excessive gains. Westpac is the latest bank to announce a strong full-year profit, rising 12 percent to one point one six billion dollars $1.16b. It followed ANZ posting a record-breaking more than two billion dollar $2.064b profit, with BNZ set to announce its profits on Wednesday. The Prime Minister is accusing banks of not serving communities struggling with the cost of living but says the government does not have a solution. Green Party finance spokesperson Julie Anne Genter spoke to Corin Dann.
