The government has released two reports looking at long-term national security risks.
It includes a survey which shows the risks people are most concerned about, and whether they believe the government is well placed to deal with such an issue.
For instance, natural disasters are seen as the highest threat by people surveyed, but the government is trusted to be well placed for such a threat.
The same can be said for terror attacks, or an epidemic.
People are less certain the government is well positioned to deal with misinformation, listed as the second biggest threat to national security, or cyber attacks.
Massey University Centre for Defence and Security Studies director Dr William Hoverd spoke to Corin Dann.
