The National Party says Wayne Brown and his team have come up with much better plan for the country's three waters and it spells the end of the Government's unpopular proposal.
Auckland mayor Wayne Brown, along with Christchurch mayor Phil Mauger and Waimakariri mayor Dan Gordon say their new plan - unlike three waters - will build consensus across the country.
The new proposal would maintain key aspects of three waters, including the new water regulator, Taumata Arowai, while maintaining local ownership and allowing for what the mayors describe as meaningful roles for mana whenua.
National Party local government spokesperson Simon Watts spoke to Māni Dunlop.
