GPs are warning they'll need help to do their part to help cut surgical wait lists.
A taskforce has recommended changes to the health system to reduce the long wait times for operations. It included allowing GPs to do some of the diagnosing and care that specialists do now.
College of GPs chair Samantha Murton says it will be great to be able to help patients more directly but warns family doctors are already under the pump.
