A Government task force has delivered 101 recommendations to cut surgical wait times - but no targets for when they will be achieved.
The recommendations include giving GPs more ability to diagnose without the need for a specialist, moving patients between regions for care, and greater use of the private sector.
National Party health spokesperson Dr Shane Reti says the lack of targets is not good news for the tens of thousands of people waiting for planned - or non urgent - surgery.
He spoke to Corin Dann.
