A heavily pregnant woman in her 20s, and her unborn child, died at Palmerston North Hospital after hours of delay admitting her to intensive care.
The coroner is investigating the deaths which happened earlier this year when the woman went to hospital suffering from sepsis - an extreme reaction to infection.
A clinical review is also under way.
