Far right party wins Italian snap election

Italy's snap elections have resulted in victory for the far right and for Brothers of Italy leader Giorgia Meloni.

Meloni's party secured 26 per cent of the vote, setting her on course to become Italy's first female Prime Minister.

But with Brothers of Italy tracing its roots to the neo-fascist Italian Social Movement, the victory may be met with alarm by much of Europe.
