In the wake of the recent spate of ram-raids, the National Party is saying the government "hasn't got the balance right" when it comes to tackling youth crime.
National says it's dismayed to see prosecutions of young offenders declining at a time when youth crime seems to be on the up.
The party's police spokesperson Mark Mitchell says the full range of tools of the youth justice system need to be applied, including locking up more of the worst offenders in youth facilities.
