Wāhine Māori put their names forward for mayor

A number of wāhine Māori have put their hat in the ring to become mayor at this year's local body election. 

It's rare for Māori women to be in the top job - former Carterton Mayor Georgina Beyer and Lynn Riesterer in Ōpōtiki are two exceptions.
