German cities cut back on power use to save gas

Europe is continuing to feel the strain of the current energy crisis too, with some cities in Germany now turning off fountains and hot water in public places, and ceasing to illuminate landmarks at night, in order to save gas.

Russia's squeeze on natural gas deliveries led to countries across Europe agreeing to a 15 percent reduction plan last week, and now in Germany, cities are making cutbacks to ensure they have enough gas for winter.

Berlin correspondent Thomas Sparrow spoke to Corin Dann.
