Marlborough District Council pumping excess wastewater into rivers

From Morning Report, 8:43 am on 1 August 2022

In what it clearly hopes will be a short-term measure, the Marlborough District Council says it is managing sewage overflow by pumping excess wastewater into flooded rivers.

The heavy rains of the past week, plus longstanding problems as a result of past earthquakes, have meant that Blenheim's sewerage has been overflowing.

The council's three waters engineer Stephen Rooney says he is confident the problem will soon be fixed.

He spoke to Corin Dann.
