Schools disrupted by bomb threats

From Morning Report, 6:15 am on 29 July 2022

At least a dozen schools across the country were disrupted yesterday by a series of bomb threats.

Schools from Palmerston North to Alexandra were sent into lockdown after receiving alarming phone calls.

Police later established there was no safety risk, and say it's likely the threats came from an overseas cyberbot.

At Horowhenua College in Levin, all 700 students were sent to the back field in the pouring rain, and by 2.30pm they'd all gone home.

The school's principal Grant Congdon spoke to Susie Ferguson.
