A "major superpower rivalry" in the Pacific region will be on show today as the United States' Vice President Kamala Harris dials in to the Pacific Islands Forum.
The US had been tipped to speak at the 51st forum in Suva this week but it was only confirmed yesterday.
It's just announced a suite of new commitments in an effort to boost its relations with the Pacific region - in the face of China's growing interest and influence.
