Aged care provider says system near collapse

From Morning Report, 7:40 am on 12 July 2022

The aged care sector could collapse within the next six months without urgent intervention from the Government, according to a provider in Otago.

More than 1000 beds in rest homes currently lie empty because of a lack of nurses, and the costs of running aged care facilities are skyrocketing in places.

Presbyterian Support Otago runs nine care homes across the region, its chief executive Jo Rowe spoke to Susie Ferguson.
