Nursing schools' proposal to train more specialists declined

Nursing schools have been knocked back after making a proposal to double the number of specialist trainees.

Nine schools joined forces to propose doubling the number of nurse practitioners being trained to help support GPs and alleviate the health workforce crisis.

But the Ministry of Health hasn't taken up the idea.

Massey University College of Nursing executive director professor Jenny Carryer spoke to Susie Ferguson.
