A group of unions, charities and community groups being led by the MindtheGap campaign is urging that employers be required by law to report gender and ethnic paygaps.
MindTheGap says an analysis of international data shows women in New Zealad could make an extra $35 a week if the requiremet is introduced.
This comes as charities are reporting a growing number of people are struggling to pay their power bills, and the cost of living is rising.
MindtheGap campaign co-founder Dellwyn Stuart spoke to Corin Dann.
