Drug-buyer Pharmac is urging 36,000 people taking a blood pressure drug to change to another treatment because of a cancer risk.
The agency says the drug branded Accuretic, supplied by Pfizer, contains a cancer-causing contaminant called nitrosamine.
It says it's a global issue, and is recommending patients on Accuretic contact the person who prescribed their medicine and switch to an alternative treatment as soon as possible.
Pharmac director of operations Lisa Williams spoke to Susie Ferguson.
