Secondary school principals want to dump PISA testing

From Morning Report, 8:16 am on 21 June 2022

Secondary school principals say it's time to dump the OECD's prestigious PISA tests in reading, science and maths.

The Education Ministry has barely managed to scrape together enough schools to do this year's tests for 15-year-olds.

Principals say it's too much to expect of covid-fatigued teens and they increasingly believe the international assessment is no longer relevant.

RNZ education correspondent John Gerritsen has been reporting on PISA since it began in 2000.
