Sense of rhythm down to genetics - research

Do you take to the dance floor like a fish to water, or would you rather stand at the back and sway?

New research shows that having a sense of rhythm, at least in some part, is down to your genetics.

International researchers have found 69 different genetic variants are linked with an ability to keep in time with a beat.

Dr Marianne Schultz has danced with Limbs Dance Company and Douglas Wright Dance Company, among many others.

She is also is a teacher, choreographer and dance historian.

She spoke to Corin Dann.
