Hutt Valley documents reveal last earthquake assessments

Documents show the main Hutt Valley hospital block that's about to be closed was ruled not earthquake prone just a year ago. The DHB used a 10-year-old seismic assessment to persuade the Hutt City Council that the Heretaunga Block was not quake-prone in May last year. But an updated assessment released this week has found the building, which accommodates more than 200 beds, rates at just 15 percent of New Building Standard.
