Four quite different books all received top prizes in the Ockham Book Awards in Auckland last night.
They included a meaty history about the New Zealand Wars; a book on fashion in Aotearoa from 1840 to 1910; and poetry evoking Vikings, astronauts and angels.
Fiction won the day, in the form of a book called Kurangaituku, by Wellington novelist and playright Whiti Hereaka.
New Zealand Book Awards Trust member Paula Morris spoke to Susie Ferguson.
