Pacific money laundering detection systems in poor shape - report

From Morning Report, 6:17 am on 4 May 2022

Transparency International New Zealand has published a new report on corruption and money laundering in the Pacific.

The report, co-authored by University of Canterbury scholars John Hopkins and Chat le Nguyen, finds that the systems for detecting and preventing this kind of activity aren't in great shape.

Better frameworks, more training and better lawyers also feature among the recommendations.

Transparency International New Zealand chief executive Julie Haggie spoke to Corin Dann.
