Tourist business owner not happy with Strategic Tourism Asset Protection Programme

The co-owner of a major tourist business says the Government has no understanding of tourism and appears to have given money to its mates without due process.

The comment by Aaron Russ of Heritage Expeditions follows a critical report from the Auditor-General on the $290 million Strategic Tourism Asset Protection Programme.

Auditor-General John Ryan found Government Ministers used unclear criteria when dishing out tens of millions of dollars in tourism grants in 2020, and provided few records explaining their decisions.
