The highly-contagious Covid-19 Omicron subvariant BA.2 has taken charge as the dominant strain in Aotearoa.
Director general health Ashley Bloomfield says BA.2 comprises nearly 80 percent of recent cases that have undergone genome sequencing, eclipsing the Omicron BA.1 strand.
While some countries are suffering from fresh waves of Covid-19 because of the rise of BA.2, Dr Bloomfield thinks we might emerge favourably.
