ComCom's Supermarket report due back tomororw

From Morning Report, 7:49 am on 7 March 2022

The Commerce Commission's long awaited report on the supermarket industry is due out on Tuesday, with keen interest on how far it will go in suggesting change for the $22-billion sector.

Its preliminary report in 2021 found that the two major chains Foodstuffs and the Australian owned Woolworths were making excessive profits and suggested solutions included forcing the big two sell some of their stores, open up distribution centres to rivals, and possibly government intervention and support to help a third operator enter the market.
