Half of a big South Auckland elective surgery centre has been closed with staff diverted to help Middlemore Hospital cope with soaring Omicron cases.
There are 142 Covid-19 patients in the hospital, far more than in any other.
About one in four turning up to the Emergency Department are testing positive for Covid-19.
