A Covid-19 modeller believes the criteria for close contacts to self-isolate for Covid-19 is too narrow, and could lead to an underdiagnosis of cases.

Only household contacts of cases are required to self-isolate under stage three of the Omicron response plan.

New Zealand currently has the world's highest Omicron R-value, with a rating of 3.74, according to modelling by Rako Science.
