Protesters parked illegally in Wellington haven't moved their vehicles, despite an ultimatum issued by the Police Commissioner.
Andrew Coster said the clock is ticking, and protesters must move the cars or they will be towed - and if you get in the way - expect to be arrested.
It's a sharp change of tack from police's previous hope that protesters would move them along on their own.
The offer to securely park cars for free at nearby Sky Stadium has been a flop, with only about 40 taking it up - but close to 200 remaining put.
Coster said at a media conference on Tuesday it is possible for this protest to be run lawfully but the current manner in which it's being held is untenable.
He says it's likely vehicles would have been towed sooner if they had the resources, acknowledging that still remains a problem for police.
