The protest at parliament grounds has caused consternation at Victoria University, where students are angered by blocked access to some classes, along with what they say is compromised safety.
The University's Pipitea campus near Parliament has closed down and students are forced to walk through the central city because of disrupted bus services.
They say there have been episodes of harassment from protestors.
