National Party Covid-19 spokesperson Chris Bishop says he's not worried by the protest at Parliament but he knows people working in the precinct that are.
The protestors, who are mostly against the Covid-19 vaccine mandate, arrived at Parliament on Tuesday and have set up camp on the grounds and surrounding roads.
Bishop recognised some of the anti-vaccination mandate protesters camping outside Parliament from his work as an MP based in Lower Hutt.
He told Morning Report it's normal to see some protest at Parliament but some of the violent messages being used are troubling.
"I don't feel under any particular physical threat. I know there are a few people at Parliament a bit shaken up by it."
Bishop said he had heard from some in the community expecting him to support anti-vaccine views due to being an Opposition MP, but the National Party is fully in support of vaccination.
"Being an opposition doesn't mean necessarily opposing everything the government does. We pick and choose our targets and we do that based on the evidence.
"We support vaccination, we strongly support vaccination in the National Party, it's the way out of the pandemic.
"So, we're not going to turn up and say, 'no, we agree with you don't get vaccinated' just because you're a very loud, angry minority group of people."
