Young NZ athletes picked as Winter Olympics flagbearers

From Morning Report, 7:44 am on 4 February 2022

Two of New Zealand's youngest athletes on the slopes have been named as the Nga Pou Hapai, or flagbearers, for the Beijing Winter Olympics.

Skiers Finn Bilous and Alice Robinson will jointly carry the flag - becoming the first male and female duo to do so for the New Zealand contingent.

This will be the second shot at Olympics gold for both athletes.

Twenty-two-year-old Bilous narrowly missed the slopestyle final in the 2018 PyeongChang games, while Robinson became our youngest Winter Olympian, aged 16 at the time.

Bilous told our producer Samuel Wat he's still processing the news of his flagbearer role.
