An Auckland chemist says the SoundSplash music festival could become a Covid-19 super-spreader event.
Dr Joel Rindelaub told Morning Report while traditionally, outdoor transmission is 20 times less likely than it is indoors, festivals are a different story.
He says tightly-packed outdoor settings without masks would increase transmission, with Covid-19 only needing a few seconds of exposure to infect.
The event is now connected to at least five cases of Covid-19, including one of Omicron.
