The Ministry of Health has confirmed the airport worker who tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday has the Omicron variant.
The Ministry released the genome sequencing results late last night.
A household contact of the Omicron-positive MIQ worker has also been confirmed as having the variant.
A new location of interest has also been released - Ara-Tai Café at Half Moon Bay.
Customers seated inside are considered close contacts.
University of Otago epidemiologist Professor Michael Baker told Sarah Robson the border was under immense pressure due to the huge number of Omicron cases arriving.
