Three people have been confirmed dead in Tonga following Saturday's volcanic eruption and subsequent tsunami, as aerial images show catastrophic damage to the island of Mango in the outlying Ha'apai island group.
The Tongan government has confirmed a 65-year-old woman in Mango, a 49-year-old man in Nomuka, and British national Angela Glover in Tongatapu have all been killed.
There are several reports of injuries.
The government has also confirmed that all houses on Mango were wiped out in the tsunami, with only temporary tarpaulin shelters able to be seen in aerial photographs taken by the New Zealand Defence Force.
Two Navy ships are now on their way to Tonga with urgent supplies.
