From Morning Report, 7:27 am on 18 January 2022

Christchurch community leaders worry legal action against Brian Tamaki could incite further unrest from his supporters.

The Destiny Church leader has just spent his first night in custody.

He claims he is a "political prisoner".

He faces charges of breaching Covid lockdown restrictions and bail conditions which ban him from gatherings.

His church and an affiliated group have made Christchurch's Cranmer Square their regular meeting place for months, leaving residents fed-up with the clogged roads and noise.
