Fire and Emergency says all going well, residents evacuated from a large blaze near Kaimaumau in the Far North will be able to return home today.
The 2000-hectare blaze tore through DoC wetland north of Kaitaia, with about 30 people sheltering at a nearby school for two nights.
Fire and Emergency's Northland manager, Wipari Henwood told Morning Report the weather has played ball and they've made good progress building up fire defences around the community of Kaimaumau.
