Twenty-four hospitals from Kaitaia to Invercargill will have pandemic improvements made.
Health Minister Andrew Little has announced the upgrades to 350 hospital beds around the country to better manage Covid-19 patients.
Most of the work is to more effectively isolate Covid-19 patients in either their own wing or negative pressure rooms, to reduce the impact on other hospital services.
Around 30 new intensive care or high dependency beds will be added.
