Auckland's borders are finally dismantled after more than 120 days of the city being cut off from the rest of the country.
Random spot checks will take the place of borders to ensure travellers are vaccinated, or have received a negative Covid-19 test result.
Police-led checkpoints are set up along two routes into Northland and holidaymakers are warned they'll likely be stopped.
