New Zealand's grip on the Bathurst 1000 motor race has been broken after defending champion Shane Van Gisbergan's hopes were scuppered by a tyre failure in the closing stages of the Great Race on Mount Panorama.
Australian pair Chaz Mostert and Lee Holdsworth claimed victory to bring the curtain down on an Australian SuperCars season that had already been wrapped up by Van Gisbergen with a round to spare.
