Punters empty-handed after Trentham races abandoned

From Morning Report, 8:26 am on 6 December 2021

The prize money went up in smoke and the punters went home empty-handed after racing was abandoned at Trentham on Saturday.

Just one race was held before organisers pulled the plug, citing a slippery track putting horses and jockeys in danger.

Trainer Shaune Ritchie brought three horses down from Waikato and one of them, Regazzo, almost came to grief.

Shaune Ritchie spoke to Corin Dann.
